Joy in the Trials
People say that life is rough. There is always something we can complain about. We go through many trials. What is a trial? It is a test of the performance, qualities, or suitability of someone or something. How does this relate to being a Christian? We aren’t exempt from trials. Stuff happens and we have to make decisions of how we will deal with it. The good news is that we have an eternal perspective.
1 Peter 1:6 So be truly glad. There is wonderful joy ahead, even though you must endure many trials for a little while.
We know the end of the story. God has saved us and even though we go through hard times, He is with us and doesn’t leave us. We have hope in Jesus and pray to Him. He shows us how to navigate even when it is scary. We know He is real and can have inexpressable JOY in the Journey.
I like to look at beautiful scenery shots on my big screen tv. I can’t even imagine how beautiful Heaven is in comparison. Maybe we will see fields of flowers, or maybe an ocean at sunset. We could be on the mountain top, or looking at the mountain from the valley below. God made all the beautiful places in nature, so visualizing His permanent home in Heaven is beyond our limited sight, but I know it will be amazing. We will be able to see Him fully and all the trials will be gone forever. In the scope of our future reality, this temporary home is easier to endure.
1 Peter 1:8-9 You love him even though you have never seen him. Though you do not see him now, you trust him; and you rejoice with a glorious, inexpressible joy. 9 The reward for trusting him will be the salvation of your souls.
Lord, when I face difficult trials, I know that You are with me. You hold my hand, and lead me to your presence of grace and peace. Show me which path to take and I thank you in advance for the Joy in the Journey.
